Barley wines are the heavy hitters of beer. They are often slightly boozy and tend to be relatively sweet. Notes of figs and raisins dominate, and the caramel and toffee undertones combined with a light hoppiness make it a perfect dessert beer. The jam like undertones match up very will with all types of cheeses and chutneys.
